Community Outreach

When the DAB was founded in 1975, one of its primary purposes was to bring value to the community in which its members live and work. Today, that is still an important hallmark of the organization.

The DAB Community Outreach Committee is committed to accelerating relationship building among members through shared volunteer activities and positively impacting the community in which DAB members live and work. Each year, formal activities are planned quarterly where a group of members volunteer for organizations like Junior Achievement, Habitat for Humanity, Denver Botanic Gardens and Food Bank of the Rockies. Throughout the year, members contribute to the community by participating in other impromptu activities as well. This, along with DAB members' own passions, has members participating in a wide variety of organizations throughout Colorado - bringing their expertise to both the boardroom and through sweat equity in more hands-on endeavors.

Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge

The past couple of years Denver Advisory Board members have volunteered at the Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge, delivering press releases and acting as floor traders for the hundreds of high school students competing in this event. A fast paced day and fun event!

Junior Achievement Finance Park

Members from the Denver Advisory Board helped out at Junior Achievement Finance Park. DAB volunteers were trained on how to run the simulation, answer questions, share their personal experiences and provide guidance to students as they make their budget decisions.

JA Finance Park helps middle and high school students navigate the world of personal finance through an interactive field trip experience. Using a tablet-based simulation, students assume a random life profile which includes an occupation, income, marital status and even kids! With help they create a monthly budget including items such as housing, transportation, groceries, healthcare, utilities, insurance, internet service and more.
