February Meeting: Trends and Tactics in the Cyber World

Derek Booth spent the past 27 years working as a Special Agent for the US Secret Service specializing in cybercrime investigations and forensics but also spent plenty of time traveling the world protecting the nation’s leaders.  Assigned to President George W. Bush and his family for 5 years, he accompanied daughter Barbara Bush to Cancun, Mexico for multiple Spring Break trips, snorkeled with First Lady Laura Bush in the Galapagos Islands, and mountain biked with President George W. at his ranch in Texas, Camp David, and a handful of other exotic locations.  Derek retired from the Service in June and now manages the Incident Response team for the Americas at TrendAI, a rebranded subsidiary of Trend Micro, one of the world’s oldest cybersecurity companies.  Exchanging his Glock for a tripped-out Mac, and pairing with his team of tenacious cyber analysts and threat hunters, Derek spends his time defending Trend’s customers from Nation-State hackers and ransomware lovers, which suits his drive and competitive nature very well.
